Justin Julius Manville, songwriter, singer and guitar player, was born in
Yorkshire where he grew up in a free, musical, wild and poetic
environment… the source of his endless attraction to the organic side of
life, people and music.
Justin first became a professional cricket player at the age of 15, whilst
developing his distinctive voice and musical passion on the side as well as his
passion for old cars.... He then decided to focus on writing and composing,
first in Yorkshire, where he composed Hearts and Minds (2005-20006) and
then in Dublin.
Ireland has been an immense source of inspiration for Manville, a milestone
in his life. His inspiration there became prolific. Mothers Ghost
(2007/2008) was recorded in a country home of Marina Guinness, in a rural
and secluded setting. His song "Temptation" became an immense success
accompanied by a comprehensive tour of Irelands best known venues.
Various trips to LA and Spain was the occasion to compose a more easy-going
album, full of sunny vibes yet decrypting strong and personal feelings: Velcro
and Laces (2009/2010).
Justin has recently moved to London where he composed new songs and
released Road Trip, which is a personal and transporting album, a true
reflection of Justin's unique approach to life and music: a combination of
high aesthetics and undeniable honesty.
Since being in London Justin has performed many successful gigs, including
Alexandra Palace, Troubadour, Favela Chic (for the Orgasmatron compered
by Guy Chambers), the Half Moon, Green note and Cabaret Futura
(compered by Richard Strange). The stage set up is Justin, his guitar, an
exceptional cellist (Jessica Cox) and a cajon drum.
Justin has an impressive catalogue of over 100 songs. He has also
written with many of the great writers/producers of our time including Guy
Chambers, Martin Glover (Youth) and Mathew Hales (Aqualung)
Each of his songs is powerful and atmospheric, inspired by his favorite
topics: true love, unlikely friendships or magical childhood. There is
truth, soul and integrity in Justin's background, his personality and sources
of inspiration translate so well into his work. Listening to Justin's
music is an elegant and simple guitar experience and a true and moving
journey through life.
